TitleLetter relating to a penalty for refusing to receive Peter Hary, a vagabond
DescriptionOrder for the chief constable of the wapentake of Bulmer to levy £20 by distraining and selling the goods of Thomas Wilkinson constable of the township of Heworth, for refusing to receive Peter Hary a vagrant sent to him by a pass from the House of Correction at Beverley in the East Riding and on his way to Whitby. The order to levy £20 was made at the Quarter Sessions held on 12 July 1792. The chief constable is to pay half of the £20 to the Lord Mayor of York, the first informer, and half to the Treasurer of the North Riding

With letter from Thomas Ewbank to William Wailes esquire at Northallerton relating to the order. The £20 was going to be paid by Wilkinson's attorney, without the need for the chief constable to make any distress for it. Also includes a note relating to the case of Gray against Simpkin
