From 12 January 1822 the highway has been in disrepair in the township of Osmotherley from a gate called Flier's Gate adjoining the township of Thimbleby north-eastward to the boundary stone dividing the townships of Osmotherley and Swainby; and also from Clack Lane End eastward to a place called Slape Stones, being 5 miles and 880 yards in length and 5 yards in breadth
