Description | Bill of indictment of John Cooper late of the House of Correction at Northallerton labourer for escaping from the custody of William Wilkinson one of the constables of the township of Whitby, while being taken to the House of Correction at Northallerton. On 22 December 1828 Cooper had been charged on the oath of Elizabeth Baker and Isaac Pennock with having obtained 20 pounds of cheese and four pounds of gingerbread by false pretences
