Description | Paper to move at the Easter Sessions 1833 to quash the presentment brought by Robert Hildyard esquire J.P. against the inhabitants of Whorlton for not repairing of the highway leading from Stokesley to Thirsk, beginning at the eastern extremity of the township of Whorlton and extending westwards for 2402 yards, being 5 yards in breadth. The inhabitants have not yet pleaded but it is hoped that the rule that the road should be put into perfect repair and withstand one winter will not be considered a bar to the presenting magistrate quashing the presentment before plea. If the application is refused, the accused will plead not guilty and will be entitled to an acquittal |
