- notice dated 9 June 1835 from the overseers of the poor of the township of Sowerby that they intend to apply at the next Quarter Sessions for an order for Sampson Horsley of the township of Northallerton labourer to reimburse the township for the maintenance of the bastard daughter of Hannah Halton singlewoman, born on 1 June 1835 and chargeable to the township of Sowerby from that date. Endorsed that a copy of the notice was served by Richard Nicholson on Sampson Hostler [sic], who acknowledged that the child was his, and hoped that the officers of the township would behave fairly to him
- instructions for counsel at the Midsummer Sessions on 29 April [sic] 1835 to move for an order for Sampson Horsley to maintain the bastard daughter of Hannah Halton now living at Thirsk.
