Brief for the township of Easingwold in the case against William Wilkinson as father of the bastard son of Ellen Hebden singlewoman, born on 16 August 1835. Ellen lived with her parents at Easingwold in 1834. Williamson is a carpenter and works at Easingwold. In the spring and summer of 1834 he courted Hebden and promised marriage. His parents lived next door to Hebden and he was in the habit of going to Hebden's house after her parent had gone to bed, and to stay there until morning. Hebden went into service, but found she was pregnant and had to leave her place of work and come home. She gave birth on 16 August 1835 and received relief from the overseers from that time. With evidence from John Langdale, and Ellen Blenkhorn formerly Emma Cariss |
