Description | A particular of My Lady Sydenham's tenants that rode the bounders from Bloddy Beck to Lylley Crosse and there met Sir Hugh Cholmley, Mr William Cholmley and Mr Hugh Cholmley with about four same men, and who rode from thence to bounder stones at the head of the Darwent [Derwent] and so along my Lady Sydenham's bounders to Abbotoake [List of 20 names] Sir Hugh Cholmley spoke to them at Lylley Stone or Cross that as his liberty had graven turves in "out bounders and had their sheep on our commons, so lett no doe the like on his Common" And as to the bounders when they were shown to him, Sir Hugh said that Sir Thomas could make bounders When Sir Hugh came to Abbot Oake, he said his grandfather had thrust his dagger into it when he rode the bounds Sir Hugh asked that none of Lady Sydenham's tenants would dog their sheep "of our commons" |
