Description | Bill of indictment of Elizabeth Smith late of Great Fencote widow, who when talking with Francis Barugh and Christopher Fox and others, maligned John Story of Kirby Fleetham with these words:- "I can tell you a fine story of John Story when he lived at Haggit Hill & was Mr Smelt's hind: had a weather [wether sheep] gone & got a Justice warrant to search for him & did search several places & found nothing, so the constable said to John Story 'We have searched many honest men's houses. I pray thee let us search thine' & so the constable searched his house & found that mutton salted in two pots"
