He stayed in or around York for about a month, and then went via Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and other places near the coast, to Marske in Cleveland, where he was apprehended. He has maintained himself by begging. He met James Reed at Staithes, and they travelled together to Skelton. Before he left Burlington, he supported himself by begging.
