Description | Bill of indictment of George Metcalfe one of the overseers of the poor of the township of Easton for failing to reimburse the overseers of the poor of Catterick for maintenance paid to the wife and children of Mark Holt
Mark Holt was serving on 29 April 1793 as a militia man in the North Riding Regiment of Militia as a substitute for John Watson a balloted man for the township of Easton. Holt had left a wife and two children resident in Catterick and destitute. By an order made by a Justice of the Peace on 4 April 1794 at Crakehall, the churchwardens and overseers of the township of Catterick were ordered to pay maintenance, and the churchwardens and overseers of the township of Easton were ordered to reimburse them
