DescriptionDeclaration dated 25 August 1796 by John Leefe inspector of weights and balances for the wapentake of Ryedale that the people named below had false weights and balances, as found during his inspections in August 1796; with memorandum dated 5 September 1797 of the conviction of the above by a Justice at the office of Elias Inchbald in New Malton. - John Fewster ironmonger had a 56-pound weight and a 14-pound weight that were each one ounce light

- Messrs Fentons merchants had a seven-pound weight that was four drams light, a one-pound weight that was two drams light, and a one-pound weight that was one dram light

- George Wilkinson merchant had a four-pound weight that was two ounces and eight drams light, and a two-pound weight that was four drams light

- Richard Parker linen draper had a seven-pound weight that was eight drams light, and a four-pound weight that was four drams light

- John Snowball grocer had a seven-pound weight that was two drams light, a four-pound weight that was two drams light, and two small brass weights that were light
