DescriptionSettlement examination of William Mannam an alien and a vagrant. He is a Jew and a native of Leghorn. He came to England for the first time 44 years ago and has served both as a soldier and a sailor, and as a suttler to the English camp on the continent in 1793, when he was taken prisoner at Rimignen. He now deals in spectacles as a hawker and pedlar, but without having a licence to do so. He is not registered with the Justices, and has not been naturalised or obtained a passport or certificate from the government to allow him to enter or remain in the country.
