DescriptionJohn Flintoff of Railey Fell in county Durham, the Commissioner appointed for dividing and enclosing Thirsk West Moor and Carlton and Sandhutton Commons in the parish of Thirsk, and part of Bagby High Moor in the townships of Thirsk, Bagby and Balk, has appointed James Thompson of Bagby yeoman as surveyor of public roads over part of Bagby High Moor in the townships of Bagby and Balk

Thompson now certifies that a public highway called the Sutton Road is to be made and put into good repair. The road is abutted by the allotment of Sir Thomas Frankland containing 13 acres 2 roods and 32 perches on the north, and the allotments of Sir Thomas Frankland containing 6 acres 3 roods and 1 perch, and the trustees of Lady Lumley's Charity on the south, and the township of Thirsk on the west, and extends eastwards over the moor until it adjoins the township of Sutton and a road called the Thirsk Road, then extends south-eastwards nearly to the south-east corner of the allotment of Thomas Clarkson as purchaser of the overseers of the poor of the parish of Thirkleby, then continues south-westwards over the moor until it adjoins the road leading from Bagby to Balk
