DescriptionBill of indictment of William Trotter late of the parish of Gilmonby farmer for not repairing a gate in the township of Gilmonby which divided the townships of Gilmonby and Bowes. The gate had fallen down and remained so since 1 May 1798, thereby allowing cattle and sheep to stray into the township of Bowes

Trotter was liable to repair the gate by reason of his occupation of lands in the township of Gilmonby
