DescriptionAn account of cash paid by the Treasurer of the North Riding for the families of sergeants, corporals and volunteers residing in other counties but are charged to the North Riding as substitutes; given into court between Michaelmas 1800 and Easter 1801

Includes money paid to the families of John Jones and John Dent both of Barnard Castle and to the overseers of North Owram in the West Riding for the family of Thomas Rigg who was hired as a second substitute for Joseph Thompson of Skelton in Langbaurgh. On an appeal to Quarter Sessions at Easter 1801 Rigg was found not to be a legal substitute and the Treasurer was to be credited for money paid for the relief of his family between 31 March 1796 and 15 December 1799
