TitleRemoval order and related papers: Elizabeth Pearson and her son
DescriptionOrder dated 14 July 1801 for the removal of Elizabeth the wife of Francis Pearson and her infant son Francis from the township of Bellerby to the township of South Shields in county Durham

Notice dated 22 September 1801 to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the township of Bellerby from the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the township of South Shields in county Durham that they intend to appeal at the next Quarter Sessions against the order for the removal of Elizabeth wife of Francis Pearson and her infant son Francis

Motion paper for the Christmas Sessions. At the last Michaelmas Sessions South Shields entered an appeal against the removal of Elizabeth Pearson and her child from Bellerby, and this was adjourned by consent. Since that time, the child has died and the mother can maintain herself and is not further chargeable. The settlement could not be tried without bringing a number of witnesses from Scarborough at great expense and so the two townships of Bellerby and South Shields have agreed that the appeal should be withdrawn and the removal order quashed. The charge for maintenance is to be re-imbursed by Bellerby

Instructions for motion at the Christmas Sessions 1802 to withdraw the notice of appeal and for the removal warrant to be quashed. The settlement of the pauper is to remain undetermined
