Description | Motion paper for a fine not to be levied. John Hart of North Loftus merchant and one of the surveyors of the highways in that parish has made an oath that, although two presentments have been brought against the inhabitants of the parish of Loftus for not repairing roads, the roads have now been repaired and the inhabitants have been obliged to borrow money to defray the expenses, although the roads repaired are little more than private roads, and all the public roads are now in "remarkable good repair". The fine ordered to be levied is therefore unnecessary and cannot be expended in any useful way |
