On suspicion of felony - Mary Forster aged 22 years late of Northallerton singlewoman, committed for trial on suspicion of theft. A bill of indictment had been found against her at the last Sessions, but because of indisposition, she was not able to attend court, and was detained until this Sessions. To be confined for three months
- William Hodgson aged 36 years and John Wetherell aged 18 years, late of the hamlet of St Marygate in the suburbs of the city of York, committed on 7 October 1816 for theft
Misdemeanours - Joseph Driver aged 58 years late of Keighley in the West Riding, committed on 23 April 1816 for refusing to find sureties for keeping the peace towards Agnes Hastewell of Askrigg. Discharged
- Elizabeth Coates aged 25 years late of New Malton, vomited on 25 July 1816 for refusing to find sureties for keeping the peace towards David Hick the younger of New Malton. To be confined for six months
- John Smith aged 23 years late of Offertonhaugh in county Durham, committed 25 July 1816 for refusing to find sureties to indemnify the township of Ugglebarnby for the maintenance of the bastard child of Hannah Carter of Ugglebarnby singlewoman. Discharged
- John Smelt aged 19 years late of Hutton Rudby, committed on 29 July 1816 on the oath of Peter Entwisle a sergeant in the 33rd Regiment of Foot, as a deserter from that regiment
- Bernarder Waldstrom aged 41 years late of Whitby, committed on 7 September 1816 for refusing to find sureties for keeping the peace towards Philip Cook of Whitby. Fined 6d and to be confined for six months
- Mary Waldstrom aged 27 years late of Whitby, committed on 7 September 1816 for refusing to find sureties for keeping the peace towards Mary Cross of Whitby. To pay a fine to the king and to be confined in the House of Correction for three months, and then passed
- Swales Forrest aged 45 years late of Elford in Northumberland, committed on 10 September 1816 for having exposed himself in a state of nakedness in the market place of Thirsk; on the oath of Henry Masterman junior, bookseller, and the affirmation of William Sinclair junior, hatter, both of Thirsk. Discharged
- Thomas Forrest aged 19 years late of Elford in Northumberland, committed on 10 September 1816 for refusing to find sureties for his appearance at Quarter Sessions. Discharged
- Thomas Smith aged 29 years late of Smeaton, committed 30 September 1816 for refusing to find sureties for keeping the peace towards an infant son of William Goldsborough of Smeaton. Discharged
- Robert Pape aged 22 years late of Whitby, committed on 17 September 1816 for refusing to find sureties to indemnify the township of Guisborough for the maintenance of the two separate bastard children of Mary Richardson of Guisborough singlewoman. To remain
- John Eatherd aged 28 years late of New Malton butcher, committed on 20 July 1816 and received into the House of Correction on 9 October 1816 for having obtained goods from Margaret Key by false pretences. Discharged
Vagrants - James Leng aged 29 years late of the township of Hutton Bushell labourer, committed on 18 July 1816 on the oath of William Otterburn one of the overseers of the township of Hutton Bushell, for having left his wife and children chargeable to the township. Discharged
- James Flaherty aged 49 years and Mary Flaherty aged 33 years and their infant child, committed on 19 August 1816 of the oath of John Smithson, for begging in the township of Helperby. To remain until etc
- Moses Tilston aged 30 years, convicted and committed on 19 August 1816 as a vagrant, wandering in the township of Kirby Moorside, lodging in out-houses and not giving a good account of himself. Discharged
- Jemima Stewart aged 19 years, convicted and committed on 19 August 1816 for begging in the township of Kirby Moorside, without having a legal settlement there. To be discharged
- Mary Hudson aged 66 years, convicted and committed on 19 August 1816 for begging in the township of Kirby Moorside, without having a legal settlement there. To be discharged
- Abraham Stanhope aged 62 years, William Frankland aged 65 years, Thomas Smith aged 63 years, and Thomas Macfarland aged 11 years, convicted and committed on 21 August 1816 for wandering in the township of Guisborough, without having a legal settlement there. Frankland was discharged; the others are to be passed
- Matthew Nicholson aged 65 years and Mary Nicholson aged 66 years, committed on 10 September 1816 on the oath of James Crummey constable of the township of Stokesley for begging in the town street of Stokesley, and for showing a pretended pass for Whitehaven in Cumberland. To be passed
- John Stelling aged 58 years late of the township of Morton on Swale, committed on 11 September 1816 on the oath of Francis Haw overseer of the township of Morton on Swale, for begging and refusing to work. To be confined for three months
- Elizabeth Saunders aged 31 years and Henrietta Saunders aged 2 years, convicted and committed on 2 October 1816 for begging in the township of Bowes without having a legal settlement there. To be passed
- Elenor Ingold aged 32 years and John Ingold aged 8 years, convicted and committed on 2 October 1816 for begging in the township of Bowes without having a legal settlement there. To be passed
- Sarah Thompson aged 32 years, Maria Thompson aged 6 years, and James Thompson aged 4 years, convicted and committed on 2 October 1816 for begging in the township of Bowes without having a legal settlement there. To be passed
Under sentence of confinement - Peter Adams aged 50 years, tried and found guilty of grand larceny at the Lammas Assizes held at York in 1815. Sentenced to be confined with hard labour for 18 calendar months
- John Younghusband aged 38 years late of South Kilvington, tried and found guilty of felony at the last Quarter Sessions. Sentenced to be confined for 12 calendar months with hard labour
- Jane Easton otherwise Jane Smith aged 40 years, twice convicted of vagrancy in the North Riding. Sentenced to be confined for six months with hard labour, and then passed to her settlement in Scarborough
- Robert Dodsworth aged 37 years late of Helmsley, committed on 15 August 1816 for disobeying an order for the maintenance of the bastard son of Sarah Richardson of the township of Lastingham singlewoman. Sentenced to be confined for three calendar months with hard labour, unless he obeys the order sooner
- John Rennison aged 32 years late of Redcar, committed on 5 March 1816 and received into the House of Correction on 19 August, on the oath of Thomas Ellinor, for using snares in the township of Kirkleatham without being qualified by law to do so. Fined £5, but did not have the wherewithal to pay. Confined for three months
- Rowland Orton aged 49 years late of Northallerton, committed on 21 August for disobeying an order for the maintenance of the bastard daughter of Frances Goldsborough of the township of Northallerton singlewoman. Sentenced to be confined for three calendar months, unless he obeys the order sooner
- Abiah Sollett aged 36 years late of the township of Swinton, committed on 31 August 1816 on the oath of Stephen Easingwold, overseer of the poor of the township of Swinton for having had two bastard children, both chargeable to the township of Swinton. Sentenced to be confined for six months
- Rebecca Ward aged 28 years late of the township of Bransdale East Side, committed on 16 September for having had three bastard children, all of whom are chargeable to the township of Bransdale East Side. Sentenced to be confined and set to work for 12 months |
