| Description | Letter from William Dealtry and Robert Chaloner at York to the Chairman of the Quarter Sessions to be held at Northallerton on 15 July 1817, asking for their statement to be laid before their brother magistrates. They had attended York Castle on 24 June 1817 as a general Sessions to hear the cases of nine insolvent debtors had been advertised in the York newspapers. The court waited for the Clerk of the Peace or his deputy to attend, but in their absence the court proceeded with business without the proper officers. They hope that their decision to discharge all the debtors will be confirmed, and blame for any irregularity will not fall on them |
