DescriptionBill of indictment of Jonathan Hartley late of the township of Thornton yeoman for not repairing part of the highway from Boroughbridge in the West Riding to Easingwold

From 14 April 1817 the highway has been in disrepair in the township of Thornton from a close called Calf Close Hill occupied by Edward Paley southward to the part of the highway in the township of Humberton, being 1,769 yards in length and 6 yards in breadth

Hartley is liable for repairs by reason of his tenure of land adjoining the highway

Endorsed with name of witness and "a true bill"
