DescriptionLetter from John Ridley at the House of Correction in Northallerton to the Revd John Headlam chairman. Ridley was convicted of assault at the last Christmas Sessions. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, and had to find bail to keep the peace for six months. He is a poor man, unable to work, "getting fast" in years and destitute of friends, and cannot find bail. He asks to be freed from the need to find bail
