Description | Certificate of two Justices of the Peace confirming that three roads in the township of Holwick are in good repair. The roads, one called the Holwick Road beginning at the north end of the village of Lonton and leading westward past Park End and Unthank Farm Houses to the east end of the village of Holwick and from there further westward through the same village to the common quarry called Castle Quarry; the second called the Middleton Road beginning at the Holwick Road near Steps End South Pastures and leading northward to Middleton Bridge; and the third called the Overside Road beginning at the Holwick Road west of Lonton village and leading eastward to an enclosure called Overside, and from there southwards and south-westward to the Lune Road west of Chapel House, were set out under an Enclosure Act of 52 George III for the townships of Lune, Holwick and Romaldkirk, and a consolidation Act of 41 George III |
