TitleLetter relating to a vagrant from Oxfordshire
DescriptionLetter from an unknown person describing how he was conveyed from Kirby Hill on 19 August 1822 to Neasham in county Durham and left destitute [with] his wife and five children. He applied to one of the Justices who ordered him to go to the overseers of Neasham for relief, which he did, and received relief for himself and his family for 11 days. During this time he was taken before the magistrates at Darlington in county Durham who sent him to Durham. He was sent back from Durham as his pass wasn't legal from Thame in Oxfordshire, where he had been sent from. The constable of Neasham delivered him and his family to the pass master of Kirby Hill on 30 September 1822 who kept his pass for 10 days and did not relieve him or his family
