William Young was a poor single man, unable to maintain himself or any woman he should marry. His legal settlement was in the township of Wrelton. Jane Liquorice (now Jane Young) was a poor single woman with a legal settlement in the township of Middleton. Their marriage, which took place at the township of Middleton on 20 December 1829, was intended to relieve the township of Middleton of the charge of Jane Liquorice, by making her chargeable to the township of Wrelton, which has been put to the expense of £10 to maintain her
