Paper to move at the Christmas Sessions [1835] on the application of the overseers of the poor of Old Malton for an order against Ralph Burton for the maintenance of the bastard son of Mary Harrison, which is chargeable to the township of Old Malton

Thomas Wood will prove that he was a servant at Mr Hardcastle's at Old Malton with Harrison and Burton. Burton was there for about a year, and left last January. Wood slept with Burton, and used to leave Harrison and Burton up together. He did not know what time Burton came to bed

Mary Harrison will state that she and Burton lived together for more than a year, and he got her pregnant at Martinmas 1833. She was Mr Hardcastle's housekeeper at his farm house. Burton got married soon after he left Mr Hardcastle's service
