Description | Bill of indictment of Thomas Blenkiron labourer, Thomas Nelson labourer, and William Hodgson labourer, all late of the parish of Marrick, for procuring a marriage between William Vitty and Mary Lonsdale by promising Vitty £5, so intending to relieve the parish of Marrick from having to support Mary Lonsdale
William Vitty was a poor single man, unable to support himself, but with a settlement in the township of Hudswell. Mary Lonsdale, now wife of William Vitty, was a poor single woman with a settlement in the parish of Marrick and actually chargeable to that parish. They married on 5 August 1834 at the parish of Marrick
