- order dated 24 March 1835 for the removal of Mary Partington widow and her children Jane aged 18 years, Mary aged 13 years, Esther aged 8 years, Hannah aged 5 years, Ellen aged 2 years, and Thomas aged 7 weeks, from the township of Whitby to the township of Egton. Jane, Mary and Esther have not gained a settlement in their own right. The removal was suspended as the paupers were unable to travel through infirmity
- paper to move at the Easter Sessions in April 1835 for the appeal against the removal order to be respited until the next Sessions
- paper dated 27 June 1835 relating to the removal of Mary Partington and her children. Mary's maiden name was Mary Tose. She married John Partington 20 years ago and had six children all born in the township of Whitby. Thomas, the youngest, was born after 14 August 1834. When John Partington married, he already had a wife. Before her marriage, Mary Tose's settlement was in the township of Egton and she has not gained a settlement elsewhere. The order of removal will be confirmed only for Mary Tose alias Partington and baby Thomas, and quashed for the other five children, who were born illegitimately in Whitby before 14 August 1834 and therefore belong there [2 copies[DS1]]
