On 29 April 1835 a precept had been issued to John Reed bailiff of the sheriff of Yorkshire to levy the sum of £8 6s 11d from Clark's goods. At a county court held at the Castle of York, this sum had been adjudged owing to William Goodyear for the non-performance of promises made by Clark. The bailiff had seized a cow in order to levy the sum of £8 6s 11d
