| Description | Request for counsel to move at the Michaelmas Sessions 1835 on behalf of the overseers of Goathland for an order of bastardy against George Baker of Goathland tailor as father of the bastard son of Hannah Abraham of Goathland singlewoman, born on 26 March 1835, Hannah Abraham is the daughter of William Abraham of Goathland and Baker is a master tailor living next door but one. The parties have known each other all their lives. In about March 1834 Mary Harland, Baker's sweetheart, died, and after that an intimacy was formed between the parties. At Martinmas 1834, Baker found that Abraham was pregnant and left her. Through ill health, Abraham could not attend the last Sessions.
