Description | Bill of indictment of Robert Auckland late of the House of Correction at Northallerton labourer
Auckland was employed by William Smith, John Whalley and Henry Cowap as a printer. A record of the quantity of printing ordered was kept by both employer and employee, and Auckland was paid according to the entry in his record book. Auckland recorded an order for the printing of six dozen articles as 16 dozen and so obtained 4s 2d wages from Henry Charlton, who paid the wages for Smith, Whalley and Cowap, for ten dozen articles which he did not print
