Description | Bill of indictment of George Coates labourer and George Nicholson labourer, both late of the parish of Thirsk, for falsely pretending to William Walker, who was acting for Edward Weddell, that a watch chain, two seals and one key which Coates and Nicholson delivered to Walker were the same items which they had received from Weddell. Weddell had pawned one gold watch chain, two gold seals and one gold key with Coates and Nicholson. In return for a promissory note for the payment of £5, Coates and Nicholson had returned items that were not gold but brass and worth only 10s
