DescriptionBill of indictment of James Scott otherwise called James Sherwood labourer and John Ferguson labourer, both late of the House of Correction at Northallerton, for stealing one bank note for the payment of £5 value £5, 11 gold coins called sovereigns value 20s each, one gold coin called a half-sovereign value 10s, two silver coins called half-crowns value 2s 6d each, ten silver coins called shillings value 1s each, ten silver coins called sixpences value 6d each, one cotton purse value 6d, and one other purse value 6d, the property of John Terry and stolen from his person

Scott had previously been convicted of felony at the Quarter Sessions for the West Riding held at Bradford on 2 June 1845

Endorsed with names of witnesses and "a true bill"



With certificate of conviction at the Spring Quarter Sessions for the West Riding held at Bradford on 2 June 1845 of James Scott for stealing one silver half-crown coin value 2s 6d, one silver shilling coin value 1s, and one silver sixpence coin value 6d, the property of George Donington and taken from his person at the parish of Halifax on 31 May 1845. Scott was sentenced to hard labour at the House of Correction at Wakefield in the West Riding for six calendar months. Certificate undated
