| Description | Copy order made by two Justices of the Peace for the Guardians of the Ripon Union to repay the overseers of the poor of the township of Thornaby for money paid for the maintenance of Alice Dodsworth wife of Richard Dodsworth of the township of Thornaby labourer. She was conveyed from the township of Thornaby to the Lunatic Asylum at Clifton on 18 July 1857. Although she was living in the township of Thornaby, her place of settlement is in the township of East Tanfield in the parish of Kirklington, and so the Guardians of Ripon Union are to pay for her maintenance in future
