Description | Bill of indictment of Alexander Robinson for obtaining £3 from George Thompson driver of the mail cart from Northallerton to Guisborough by falsely pretending that he (Robinson) had not received a box containing a cheque for £3 and a cheque for £1 which Thompson had received to be delivered to Robinson. Robinson claimed that he had been advised by Ralph Prest an inspector of police to write to the General Post Office to try to get back the money and his box, which might cause Thompson to lose his situation
