With a statement that he had arrived in England from Bombay on 23 May 1865 and sailed again on 14 June 1865 from London to Corunna in the "Great Western". He arrived back in Liverpool on 14 July 1865, and so it was impossible for him to attend as a juror on 27 June 1865. He is not aware of any summons having been sent to him, and a letter from the deputy Clerk of the Peace dated 16 July 1865 was the first that he knew about being summoned
