| Description | Notice dated 26 August 1868 given by Christopher Weighell to the Justices who acted for the division of Birdforth at the General Annual Licensing Meeting held at Sowerby on 22 August 1868. Weighell intends to appeal at the next Quarter Sessions against the refusal by the Justices to grant him a licence to sell excisable liquors to be drunk on the premises at his house in Barbeck in Thirsk. A licence would have been a convenience to the public and there was nothing in Weighell's character or conduct to justify the refusal
