With certificate of conviction at the Quarter Sessions held at Northallerton on 15 October 1867 of John Layfield late of the House of Correction at Northallerton for stealing one gold watch chain, one gold seal and one gold key, the property of Eleanor Harrison; one silver watch and gold watch chain, the property of Margaret Harrison; and two pairs of trousers, two shirts, two pairs of stockings, two pairs of boots, one pair of braces, one woollen scarf and one necktie, the property of James Burn.
