TitlePetition for a lock-up at Saltburn by the Sea
DescriptionPetition to the Justices from owners of property and residents of Saltburn by the Sea for the provision of a lock-up. There are a number of people "principally of the lower classes" brought by excursion trains and steamers in the summer months, and a large mining population who frequent the town. This leads to a considerable amount of drunkenness on trip- and pay-days, and there is only one constable and the nearest lock-up is three miles away at the village of Marske
