DescriptionCopy indictment of William Jones and Henry Fell Pease occupiers of chemical works in the township of Middlesbrough in the borough of Middlesbrough. Since 1 January 1874 they have been making sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulphates of soda and potash, oxalic acid and salts of oxalic acid, and setting up apparatus to manufacture or extract the above from pyrites, common salt, muriate of potash, sawdust, caustic soda and caustic potash causing noxious smells to be emitted from the works. Jones and Pease are still manufacturing oxalic acid and salts of oxalic acid in a negligent manner which pollutes the air. Lists witnesses and with the annotation "true bill"

Copy writ dated 4 September 1874 for the case against William Jones and William Fell Pease to be heard at Westminster on 2 November 1874; with copy recognizance dated 11 September 1874 made by William Jones and Henry Fell Pease both of Middlesbrough chemical manufacturer, James Taylor of Saltburn wharfinger and William Henry Blessley of Middlesbrough architect for the appearance of Jones and Pease in the court of Queen's Bench at Westminster on 2 November 1874 to answer indictments brought against them there or at the next Assizes
