Description | Bill of indictment of Anne Elizabeth Patton for obtaining one polonaise and one black satin skirt from Henry Duck by falsely pretending that Mistress Coward was the upper housemaid at the Royal Hotel in Whitby and had lived there for the preceding two summers, and had sent Patton for some ready-made dresses for her (Coward's) inspection. Patton had taken two polonaises and then claimed that Mistress Coward had approved of one of them
