Description | Bill of indictment of William Charlton secretary employed by Thomas Costello and others, trustees of the Middlesbrough Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, Machinists, Millwrights, Smiths and Pattern Makers, for falsifying an account book called the Contribution Book by omitting an entry for 16s which had been paid by Matthew Gibson; for making a false entry representing that the sum of 21s 8d was due from Gibson, whereas only 5s 8d was due; and for altering particulars in the book changing the figure 21 into the figure 5

Charlton was also indicted for falsifying the account book by omitting an entry for 18s 6d paid by Gibson; for making a false entry representing that the sum of 18s 5d was due from Gibson; and by omitting the entry of a sum of 20s paid by Gibson
