With certificate of conviction at the Quarter Sessions for the city and county of Newcastle upon Tyne held on 17 October 1883 of John Henry Bell for obtaining one silver watch by pretending to William Hall servant and salesman to a firm called Messrs Bunn and Dick that he (Bell) was the servant of Messrs Wherby and Sheraton of Sunderland jewellers and that he had been sent for three or four watches, on 8 September 1886. Bell was sentenced to hard labour at the House of Correction for four calendar months. Certificate dated 13 October 1886
