DescriptionBill of indictment of Charles Hardisty for obtaining five pounds ten ounces of pork and two black puddings by deception from Mary Ann Topham. Hardisty falsely pretended to her that he had sold some carrots worth at least 3s 11d to her husband John Topham at Wigginton, and that the money was now due to him

Hardisty had previously been convicted of felony at the court of summary jurisdiction at the city of York on 26 January 1885 and had been sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment with hard labour

With certificate of conviction at a Petty Sessional court at the city of York on 26 January 1885 of Charles Hardisty for stealing a brown overcoat, a silk handkerchief and a pair of gloves, the property of Walter Ellis, at the city of York on 19 January 1885. Hardisty was sentenced to hard labour at the prison at York for six weeks. Certificate dated 17 December 1886
