Raper had previously been convicted of felony at the Petty Sessional court for the borough of Middlesbrough held at Middlesbrough on 25 January 1886

With certificate of conviction at the court of the Petty Sessional division of the borough of Middlesbrough held at Middlesbrough on 8 February 1888, of Thomas Robinson of the borough of Middlesbrough labourer for stealing seven hundredweights of iron value 10s, the property of the Tees Side Iron and Engine Works Company Ltd of the borough of Middlesbrough on 6 February 1888. Robinson was sentenced to hard labour at the prison at Northallerton for one calendar month. Certificate dated 15 October 1888



With certificate of conviction at the court of the Petty Sessional division of the borough of Middlesbrough held at Middlesbrough on 26 January 1886 of Charles Raper of the borough of Middlesbrough fisherman for stealing scrap iron value 2s 6d, the property of Messrs Gjers Mills and Co Ltd of the borough of Middlesbrough iron manufacturers on 22 January 1886. Raper was sentenced to hard labour at the prison at Northallerton for one calendar month. Certificate dated 15 October 1888
