TitleBill of indictment for misdemeanour: John Duckworth or Hebden
DescriptionBill of indictment of John Duckworth otherwise called John Hebden for obtaining 2s 6d from Marianna Kendrew by falsely pretending that a poor woman had been left a widow with nine children when her husband had fallen from the roof of a building at Wath. He pretended that he had been asked by Mr Lukis to call on her as they wanted to set the woman up in a grocery business; and that he had been dining with Mr Durham who had also mentioned Marianna Kendrew to him

With certificate of conviction at the Quarter Sessions held at Kendal in the county of Westmorland on 6 April 1882 of John Duckworth otherwise called Charles Duckworth otherwise called James Sowerby otherwise called Hepden otherwise called Foster otherwise called Singleton for obtaining money by false pretences from Joseph Knight and also from William Crackanthorpe. He was sentenced to penal servitude for five years. Certificate dated 14 October 1886
